Luke 4:42-44
Jesus Came to Teach Us
42 At daybreak, Jesus went out to a solitary place. The people were looking for him and when they came to where he was, they tried to keep him from leaving them. 43 But he said, “I must proclaim the good news of the kingdom of God to the other towns also, because that is why I was sent.” 44 And he kept on preaching in the synagogues of Judea.
John 18:37
Jesus Came to Testify to the Truth
37 "You are a king, then!" said Pilate. Jesus answered, "You say that I am a king. In fact, the reason I was born and came into the world is to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me."
Jesus was the Greatest Teacher ever...I might even think He delighted in His Teaching at times...But if I am ask was Jesus a happy person, the question is one to give me pause...I personally do not think of Jesus as a happy person, as I read through the gospels…But I do not think of Him as an unhappy Person...I do not remember Him laughing a lot...But laughing or not laughing, I do not believe He was unhappy at all....He definitely was not a sad person...He came to do ministry work on earth and to help us, and that I think brought Him joy....He came to tell us the good news of the Kingdom of Heaven...But as I look for Bible verses about His personal happiness, I cannot find them...I think when Jesus said that He came into the world to testify to the Truth, that is what He did...Jesus did not come to earth to simply explain to us about happiness, and to bring us pleasures and happiness...No He came to minister to us and teach us and to train us about God and Himself...To teach us that He is the Absolute Truth...
Jesus talks about Joy, and there is Joy in Him...And I believe because He always spoke the Truth, there is Joy in the Truth...There is a peace in the Truth...And there must be a happiness to in Truth...
So as we go through life, let us remember these things about Jesus...C. S. Lewis told us how we look at life each day might change the way we look at happiness, the more we are focused on Jesus...C. S. Lewis said, “If you think of this world as a place intended simply for our happiness, you find it quite intolerable: think of it as a place of training and correction and it’s not so bad.”...
Through Jesus' proverbial way of speaking and through His many parables, and how He helped and healed people -is what life is all about....It is through His teachings we find love, faith, and hope...When He walked the earth, if we see Him as the Great Teacher and we as His students, then with this perspective life is different for us...By living under this premise can help us understand that the world was not created simply for my personal happiness, but is a place of learning and understanding what this Teacher taught...And with that belief and view, always in mind, then life can be looked at a little bit, or maybe a lot differently...
