Matthew 9:9-13
Jesus Came for Sinners
9As Jesus went on from there, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax collector's booth. "Follow me," he told him, and Matthew got up and followed him.
10While Jesus was having dinner at Matthew's house, many tax collectors and "sinners" came and ate with him and his disciples. 11When the Pharisees saw this, they asked his disciples, "Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and 'sinners'?"
12On hearing this, Jesus said, "It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. 13But go and learn what this means: 'I desire mercy, not sacrifice.' For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners."
John 3:16-17
God Loves Each of Us
16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.
John 15:20-25
Some of the World Will React Negative to Jesus
20 Remember the words I spoke to you: ‘No servant is greater than his master.’If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also. If they obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours also. 21 They will treat you this way because of my name, for they do not know the One who sent me. 22 If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not be guilty of sin. Now, however, they have no excuse for their sin. 23 He who hates me hates my Father as well. 24 If I had not done among them what no one else did, they would not be guilty of sin. But now they have seen these miracles, and yet they have hated both me and my Father. 25 But this is to fulfill what is written in their Law: ‘They hated me without reason.’
John 14:1
Trust in God, But Trust also in Jesus
1 “Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me.
John 14:6
Jesus is the Path to His Father
6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
John 17:3
This is Eternal Life to Know God and Jesus
3Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.
Romans 8:28
God Works for the Good
28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
Luke 1:37
Nothing is Impossible for God
37For nothing is impossible with God.
God and Jesus are uniquely linked...Jesus tells us that He and the Father are One...That we are to trust God, but trust also in Him...And then He teaches about eternal life is to know God, and the One He sent...This uniqueness takes me from a random world, to one that was created by a Most Organized God, where nothing happens without a reason...Because we only see a limited amount of time on earth, we do not know the totality of God's Plan...It is like we have one paragraph only in a large novel...Yet, we want to understand the entire novel and its themes...
Jesus tells us that He came to earth not to call on the righteous, but came for sinners…And Jesus would eventually die for our sins…But we must confess we are sinners…We must believe that we do sin…If we do not believe or confess that we sin, then we think somehow think we are righteous (like the Pharisees) -because Jesus did not come for those who think they are righteous…This is what He told the Pharisees, and they still believed they were righteous…We must realize and remember, He came for sinners...
God loves us, including those who sin…This is why He sent His Son to us…Whoever believes in Him, shall never perish, but have eternal life…For God did not send Jesus to us, to condemn us for our sins, but to save us from our sinning ways…
We should not be surprised that the world reacts negatively, when we speak openly about our LORD…He told us this would happen…Many of His early disciples, and His earliest of followers were persecuted…Many were put to their deaths, for believing in and following Him…Had Jesus not come those who think they were righteous would not be guilty of sin…But since He came to earth He tells us, we have no excuses for our sin…We are free to choose and believe what we want each day…We can choose to believe in the Father and in the Son, or we can choose not to believe…But back to our sins, we are guilty of sinning...He came to show us and teach us about sin, and He came for us sinners...
Jesus teaches us that to know the Father, and that He sent Jesus -is to have eternal life…So we must seek Him and find Him, and believe in both the Father and the Son…We must trust in the Father and trust also in the Son…No one gets to the Father, except through the Son…
There are two kinds of people in this world…One who thinks everything is random and happens by mere chance…Then there are believers in the Father and Son and see that in all good things God is there, working for those who love Him…Believers believe everything happens for a reason...Someone in in control...What happens in our earthly life is controlled by a loving God, who gave His Son to us, to pay for our sin debt…So even though, we are given free choice by our Father, and we have decisions on everything from how we treat our families, friends, and neighbors to what we want to do and eat each day –there still is fate…God has a plan, so even though He gives us free will, everything happens for a reason and there is some good in ALL things God does, even though we may not understand it, nor will we always like it...This is God’s fate...Things happen for a reason...This is because there is nothing He cannot do…With all the randomness some think there is in this world, God is in control with His Plan…There are many things that man cannot do, but nothing is impossible for God…
