Mark 12:28-34
The Love Commandments
28 One of the teachers of the law came and heard them debating. Noticing that Jesus had given them a good answer, he asked him, “Of all the commandments, which is the most important?”
29 “The most important one,” answered Jesus, “is this: ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. 30 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ 31 The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.”
32 “Well said, teacher,” the man replied. “You are right in saying that God is one and there is no other but him. 33 To love him with all your heart, with all your understanding and with all your strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself is more important than all burnt offerings and sacrifices.”
34 When Jesus saw that he had answered wisely, he said to him, “You are not far from the kingdom of God.” And from then on no one dared ask him any more questions.
Psalm 119:105
God's Word is the Lamp for Our Feet and the Light for our Path in Life
105 Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.
LOVE and Truth are forever connected and linked together...This is because God and Jesus have been eternally linked...God is LOVE and Jesus is Truth...A Father and a Son forever together in heaven and in a Spiritual Way...The Two are Sacred and Divine...Absolute Truth and Unconditional LOVE linked together into eternity...
Now some may say that truth that they know is greater than love...But can truth be greater than love?...Some search for truth, without looking for love and they do not see LOVE...
In these verses above, we read that God is LOVE and that Jesus is Truth...We also learn that God's Word is Truth...And the Holy Spirit is called the Spirit of Truth...God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are surrounded by Truth...We truly know love and can love when we know the Truth...Truth shows us how to love and to love one another...When we love for His sake, we are His Disciples...Love is the attribute of being one of His Disciples...Love is the mark of being His Disciple and it shows that when we love we love Him...Love is the mark of a Christian...Jesus' concept of love is that we are to follow both Him and His commandments and teachings...We are very close to the Kingdom of God, when we love God and love those around us...To love one another is always enough...And love for God is about following His Words of Truth...God's Word are the path for our feet and the Light for our lives...And His Word is Truth...
Love and Truth are infinitely inter-weaved...Love seeks the Truth, desires the Truth, and is guiding us toward the Truth...We are drawn toward those having both Truth and Love...Love has this passion for the Truth...Love rejoices in the Truth...Truth is motivated by love...Truth is deeply moved by compassion...So love searches compassionately for Truth, just as Truth seeks out love with a passion...
Jesus says He is the way, the Truth, and the life...Jesus is not only our destination in that we want to be with Him in heaven, but He is also our way in this life...He is our path on earth...His word brings us a comforting lodging on earth, while we are here...The way to Him and being with Him is not only when we are troubled and in need of comforting, but all times...He wants to be with us in both our bad times and our good times...
Jesus summed up the commandments in two distinct points...He said, "Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’...The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’...There is no commandment greater than these."...Jesus seems to be not only summing up the Old Testament, but defining the Scripture in these two points as love...Our loving is from our hearts, and our souls, and our minds, and with all our strengths...Jesus tells us to love God with heart, soul, mind, and strength...
The Way, the Truth, and the Life is the path to LOVE...The Jesus Way in the gospels is said to be the only path to LOVE...We cannot love without following the Truth...Truth, Absolute Truth is our path to LOVE...Without Truth can we have LOVE?...Without Love can we have Truth?...Jesus tied Truth and Love together forever...Jesus is both Truth and LOVE...God is both LOVE and Truth...And love and Truth live in the believer of the Way, the Truth, and the Life...
These things make Truth and love are inseparable...Truth cannot be truth without love and love cannot be love without truth...Love and truth are not deceiving, but are found together in the Spirit of Truth in an unconditional sharing and caring...Love helps prove Truth in this caring and sharing way...
