John 17:1-5
Jesus Speaks of Eternal Life
1 After Jesus said this, he looked toward heaven and prayed:
“Father, the hour has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you. 2 For you granted him authority over all people that he might give eternal life to all those you have given him. 3 Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. 4 I have brought you glory on earth by finishing the work you gave me to do. 5 And now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began.
God has Divine Sovereignty and can give us Eternal Life...We see this when Jesus prayed to His Father before His death...At that time Jesus said this, He looked toward heaven and prayed: "Father, the hour has come...Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you...For you granted Him authority over all people that He might give Eternal Life to all those you have given Him...Now this is Eternal Life: that they know you, the Only True God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent...I have brought You glory on earth by finishing the work You gave Me to do...And now, Father, glorify Me in Your Presence with the glory I had with you before the world began."...
This belief in God's sovereignty is fundamental to Christian faith…A sovereign God is one who is all-powerful, all-knowing, and all-good…He is the Ultimate Authority over all things, both in heaven and on earth…When we acknowledge God's sovereignty, we recognize that He is in control of all circumstances, no matter how difficult or challenging they may seem…This understanding brings comfort and peace, knowing that God is working all things together for the good of those who love Him (Romans 8:28)…
Moreover, if God is sovereign, then He must possess eternal life…This is evident in the words of Jesus Christ, who declared that He has been with God before the world began...And He gives us a definition of Eternal Life: "This is eternal life: to know you, the Only True God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent" (John 17:3)…Eternal life is not merely a future state of existence, but a present reality that is experienced through a relationship with God…By believing in God and Jesus Christ, we are part of this eternal life…This life is not characterized by physical immortality alone, but by a spiritual vitality that transcends the limitations of time and space…It is a life marked by love, joy, peace, and righteousness…
The concept of Divine Sovereignty challenges our limited human perspective… It invites us to trust in God's Plan, even when we cannot fully understand it…By surrendering our will to God's Will, we can experience the fullness of life that He offers…
In conclusion, the belief in God's sovereignty is essential to the Christian faith…It is a cornerstone of our hope, our peace, and our eternal destiny…By recognizing God's ultimate authority and trusting in His promises, we can live a life that is truly meaningful and fulfilling and meet Him in His Eternity and have Eternal Life with Him…
