Mark 8:27-30
Life's Question
27 Jesus and his disciples went on to the villages around Caesarea Philippi. On the way he asked them, “Who do people say I am?”
28 They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, one of the prophets.”
29 “But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?”
Peter answered, “You are the Christ.”
30 Jesus warned them not to tell anyone about him.
John 17:3
To Know Him is Eternal Life
3 Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.
Two thousand years ago Jesus ask this question of His followers, "Who do you say I AM?"...Now we are removed from Him by two thousand years and He has not returned to earth yet...So we has not seen Him physically for many, many years...It is easier to believe something you have seen, or something your parents have seen...But as the years go by and the memories of our ancestors fade and erode things...But this fading and erosion does not change the truth...A truth two thousand years ago, does not fade or erode that truth...Jesus is Truth, and that may seem faded, but it has not changed, nor is it faded...
The question He asks of His followers then, should be ask of each of us today...It is something we must give much thought to...Who is Jesus?...He is the Messiah, the Blessed Son of the Holy One...He is the One who was with the Father from the very beginning and was the Word...He is the Word, and the Word is God (John 1:1-2)...He and the Father are One (John 10:30)...Anyone who has seen the Word, has seen the Father (John 14:9)...The Word became flesh and became a Man (John 1:14)...He became a Man, if it is fair to call Him a man, to die for us...To be specific, to die for our sins...Salvation if found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12)...
If we are believers and want eternal life, we must get to know the Father and the Son...How do we get to know the Father and Son...The best way is Scripture...We need to regularly read our Bibles to get to know the Only True God and His Son...
