John 17:3
This is Eternal Life
3 Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.
Matthew 22:34-40
The Greatest Commandment
34 Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together. 35 One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question:
36 "Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" 37 Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."
Matthew 6:19-21
Treasures in Heaven
19 “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
God has been in the heavens before the beginning...God created Creation in the beginning and earth and the heavens appeared...And Jesus, who was with God in the beginning, dwelt on earth in a time when things were slower and there was little technology as we know it today...With modernization and the accomplishments of technology one can trend toward believing in the majesty of man...The non-believer believes in this majesty of man and what he has done, while the believer believes in the Majesty of God and what He has done...The non-believer is firmly planted in man and what man can do and has done, while the believer is firmly planted in faith and believes in what God can do and has done...
Faith and love are essential elements in believing in God...And from one's faith comes a relationship with God and His Son from his heart...And this relationship and knowing God is the key to eternal life with Them...God does not promise us blessings and material things in life, so we are not blessed in earthly ways and earthly things...If one can believe in the two Great Commandments then one can believe that love is this relationship between God and his neighbor...And knowing this one can see that we need a relationship with the One True God and His Son in our heart...Earth and living on earth gives us earthly material desires, pleasures, and maybe the accumulation of earthly goods...But these things are not a part of the foundation for this relationship with God and His Son...But we can look at what Jesus actually had in earthly material things and see the true value of earthly things...
God's Wisdom and His Will is trusted in the one firmly planted in his faith in the Father and the Son, not the things on earth that keep us from Him...The Heavenly Kingdom very much trumps this earthly kingdom...So this is eternal life, by knowing the One True and and the One that He sent...And believing this one has faith that he will spend eternity with their Father and His Son...
