Matthew 28:11-15
11 While the women were on their way, some of the guards went into the city and reported to the chief priests everything that had happened. 12 When the chief priests had met with the elders and devised a plan, they gave the soldiers a large sum of money, 13 telling them, “You are to say, ‘His disciples came during the night and stole him away while we were asleep.’ 14 If this report gets to the governor, we will satisfy him and keep you out of trouble.” 15 So the soldiers took the money and did as they were instructed. And this story has been widely circulated among the Jews to this very day.

Jesus Says Now This is Eternal Life -Knowing the One True God and Knowing Jesus Christ
1 After Jesus said this, he looked toward heaven and prayed: “Father, the hour has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you. 2 For you granted him authority over all people that he might give eternal life to all those you have given him. 3 Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. 4 I have brought you glory on earth by finishing the work you gave me to do. 5 And now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began.
The chief priests and those soldiers that guarded Jesus' tomb did not know what happened to Him and His body...So they would make up a story without researching what happened to Him and His body...Would not at least one of these men had some doubts about the stories surrounding Jesus?...These men had no imagination and no curiosity...But worst of all they had no desire to search for the Truth, and they had no faith...The chief priests' and guard's story would undermine the story of what really happened...They did not want the Truth to get out and it seems they did not want the Story of a Resurrected Jesus to get out and be told...
I would think the story of Jesus resurrecting and so many people believe that He did, would be a haunting story for those who do not believe the story...After all there is quite a difference in believing in eternity and in believing that there is this once and for all finality in your own personal death...There is this great difference in heaven and in hell, and this just might haunt some of those who cannot believe that Jesus resurrected after His death...
Somehow Jesus resurrected and somehow the story did get out...What do you believe happened?...Can you believe what Jesus said about eternal life...He said now this is eternal life - to know the One True God, and to know Him...It makes quite a difference when you think about eternity and eternal life, versus living seventy or eighty or ninety or even one hundred years...It makes all the difference in living in the Grandest of Places or in hell...
