Matthew 6:19-21
Treasures Are in Heaven
19 “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Matthew 7:13-14
The Narrow and Wide Gates
13 “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. 14 But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.
John 14:25-27
Jesus Gives Us a Heavenly Peace
25 “All this I have spoken while still with you. 26 But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. 27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
Genesis 1:26-27
God Made Us in His Image
26 Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”
27 So God created mankind in his own image,
in the image of God he created them;
male and female he created them.
John 17:3
Now this is Eternal Life
3 Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.
Jesus tries to teach us it is not what we materially possess that counts in life is not what makes us happy in the long run...Material things mean nothing in eternity and in His Kingdom...He tells us not to store up earthly treasures, but instead store up for yourselves treasures in heaven...It is only God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit who can give us a true contentment and peace and joy...And this type of peace is not of this world...As we continue to look to material possessions and add to our possessions for our happiness, we can easily become empty and have a feeling of void in our lives...Yet, we continue to take that path, because that entry way is broad and that road is wide...It is the easy path and sometimes the wide path gives us a temporary pleasure...Then that pleasure leaves us...But it is best to go through the narrow gate that leads to a full and abundant life and that is where we find true peace...
Even the story of Martha and Mary, where Martha is working and Mary is listening to Jesus, He tells us that Mary is doing the better thing...I feel we get the lesson that the real treasures are in and from heaven...
Jesus taught and teaches us the eternities...Let us look beyond material treasures or material things...Real treasures are everlasting...Real treasures are not in what we own, are the joys of knowing the One True God and His Son...Let us look at our own faults, our own feelings, our own heart, and our soul...Jesus looked at these things in the people He was with and was always helping them...Let us help others who also need help...It is our own humanness, our spirit, and soul that is made in the Image of God, that is a real treasure...The indwelt Holy Spirit is another treasure of heaven...These treasures are found in heaven in the Living God and His Son...These things lead us to the eternities...
