Distributional Range: Native Southern America SOUTHERN SOUTH AMERICA: Chile [VIII - Biobío; IX - Araucanía; XIV - Los Ríos; X - Los Lagos]
Description and Ecology : Perennial plant, evergreen, bouquets, thin stems. Alternate ovate-lanceolate leaves. Small, solitary axillary flowers, pink to lilac, hook-shaped style. Medium altitude up to the timber line. Low altitude, interior valleys (0 - 300 m). Humid areas, with almost constant rainfall. Short dry periods are possible (generally not longer than 1 month). In shadow. Steep slopes facing south or a vegetation cover which filters 40 - 80 % of light.
