Common Name: 四国菫; シコクスミレ shikoku-sumire, hakone-sumire
Synon.:
Description: Perennial herb, 5-6 cm. Short rhizome giving rise to long, thin, white runners. which produce new feet at their ends. Elliptical leaves, acuminate apex, cordate base, protruding ribs. In April-May, white flowers Ø 8 mm, the lateral and lower petals are streaked with purple. Very short spur (2 mm), pocket-shaped.
Distributional Range: Native Asia-Temperate EASTERN ASIA: Japan [Honshu, Kyushu, Shikoku]
Habitat: Broad leaved forest.
