Diagnostic characters.—Perennial herbs. Stem arising from the apex of long, creeping, stolon-like segment.

Distribution.—These two species are both Argentinian endemics with limited but sympatric ranges in northern Patagonia [Neuquén and Río Negro provinces].
Etymology: These species are the only ones in the subgenus with a rhizomatous growth form, hence Rhizomandinium.
