Description: A perennial hairy herb 15–35 cm high. Leaves only flat, mid leaves long, oblique-ovate lanceolate, max. Mid-length palm divided to broad segments, leaf stalks 2-4 cm long, ovate or elliptic blades 2-4 cm long, crenate, bare or ciliate . Flowers long stalked, large, crown 2-3 cm, violet or yellowish, promontory very short, barely reaching the length of calyx leaflets.
Distributional Range: Native Europe MIDDLE EUROPE: Czechoslovakia (possibly), Poland (s.e.) EASTERN EUROPE: Moldova, Ukraine SOUTHEASTERN EUROPE: Albania, Bulgaria, Former Yugoslavia, Romania
Habitat: Viola dacica is found in grassland, in foothill to mountain range (approx. 700-1200 m), in Bulgaria it reaches up to 2300 m above sea level. It blooms from June to August.
