1 Therefore I encourage you, siblings, through the compassions* of the God, to present the bodies of yours as a sacrifice—living, holy, well-pleasing to the God—that is the logical worship of yours.
2 And do not be conformed to this aeon, but be transformed by the renewing of the mind, unto you to approve what is the will of the God, the good and well-pleasing and perfect.
3 Indeed, I say, through the grace given to me, to all who are among you, not to think above beyond what is necessary to think, but to think toward sound thinking, as the God has measured a measure of trust to each.
4 For exactly as we have in one body many members, yet the members do not all have the same action,
5 so we the many are one body in Christ, and the member as one person is of the others,
6 even having different gifts according to the grace given to us: whether prophecy (according to the analogy of the faith),
7 or service (in the service), or the teaching (in the instruction),
8 or the comforting (in the comforting), the giving (in lack of duplicity), the leading (in zeal), the showing mercy (in cheerfulness),
9 the love (without hypocrisy), exceedingly hating the evil, being joined by* the good,
10 by sibling love loving one another as family, by honour leading one another,
11 by zeal not shrinking back, by the Spirit burning, by the Lord serving,
12 by hope rejoicing, by suffering enduring, by prayer persisting steadfastly,
13 by the saints' needs fellowshipping, the love of hospitality* pursuing.
14 Bless them persecuting you! Bless and do not curse!
15 To rejoice with rejoicing ones,* to weep with weeping ones,*
16 minding the same thing to one another, not minding the high things, but being led away together with the humble things, become not wise by* yourselves.
17 Do not return bad for bad to even one person, instead providing good things in the sight of all people.
18 If possible, and based on what is from you, keeping peace with all people,
19 not exacting justice yourselves, beloved, give instead place to the wrath, for it is written: Mine is the exacting of justice. I will repay, says the Lord.
20 Instead, if the enemy of yours be hungry, feed him. If he be thirsty, give drink to him. For doing this, you will heap coals of fire on the head of his.
21 Be not overcome by the badness! Instead, overcome the badness by the good!
Notes
1 Like Christ, Christians offer themselves as sacrifices because of God's compassions for those needing rescue.
9 Or to
13 Or friendship toward the rights of strangers
15 Some manuscripts add and; this reads the infinitives as infinitives of purpose (see e.g. Smythe §2008)
16 A double meaning is possible: wise by oneself alone and wise by only one's own accounting
