16 For I am not ashamed of the good news, for it is the power of God for salvation of everyone having faith,α both Jew (first) and Greek.
17 Indeed, God's righteousness is revealed in it, from faith for faith,α just as it is written, "Yet the [one] righteous from faith will live."
18 Indeed, God's wrath is revealed from Heaven upon every impiety and injustice of humans who suppress the truth inα injustice.
19 Wherefore, the knowledge of the God is manifested among them, for the God has manifested [it] to them,
20 for the invisible [qualities] of Him, both the eternal power and divinity, are discerned from [the] Cosmos's creation, being understood by the created [things], unto them being without excuse!
21 Wherefore, having known [of] the God, they did not glorify [Him] as God, nor gave thanks, [and] instead they became vain byα the thoughts of theirs, and the foolish heart of theirs was darkened,
22 professing to be wise, they became fools,
23 and they changed the glory of the incorruptible God by [an] image alike [a] corruptible human, even [alike] birds, even [alike] four-footed [things], even [alike] creeping [things];
24 therefore, the God handed them over among the lusts of the hearts of theirs, into uncleanness of the dishonouring of the bodies of theirs among them,
25 [they] whoever changed the truth of the God into the lie, and worshipped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed into the aeons, amen.
26 Due to this, the God handed them over to passions of dishonour. Both, indeed, the females of theirs changed the natural use to that against nature,
27 and likewise also the males, having left the natural use of the female, were inflamed in the yearning of theirs for one another, males with males committing the obscenity and receiving in themselves the penalty that was necessary for the error of theirs.
28 Even just as they did not deem the God worthy to have in knowledge, the God gave them over to [an] unworthy mind, to do those things that are not fitting,
29 being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malignity; whisperers,
30 backbiters, haters of God, insolent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,
31 uncomprehending, uncooperative,α without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful;
32 [they] whoever, knowing the act of justice of God, that they practising the [things] such as these are worthy of death, not only do the very [things], but also join in approving of them [who are] practising [these things].
Notes
16 α Or "being faithful".
17 α Or "from faithfulness for faithfulness", "out of faith into faith", "out of faith for faith".
18 α Or "by".
21 α Or "in".
31 α The Greek word refers to "not standing together" (a-syn-thetos, ἀσύνθετος). Because of its use in Jeremiah 3, and nowhere else in Scripture, many translate it as "covenant-breaker". Another translation could be "not covenanting".
