Matthew 4

1 Then the Iesoús was led up into the desert, under the Spirit, to be tested* under the Piercer.*

2 And having fasted 40 days and 40 nights, afterwards he hungered.

3 And having come forward,* the Tempter* said to Him, "If You are Son of the God, speak so that the stones, these [stones], become bread loaves!"

4 Yet He, answering, said, "It is written, 'Not on bread alone will the human being live, but on every utterance going out via God's mouth."'

5 Then the Piercer takes Him along into the holy city. And he set* Him on the wing of the temple.

6 And he says to Him, "If You are Son of the God, hurl yourself down! For it is written, that, 'He will order the angels of His around You, they will raise You upon hands, lest ever you strike the foot of Yours against stone.'"

7 The Iesoús says to him, "Again, it is written, 'You will not put [the] Lord, the God of yours, out to test."'

8 Again the Piercer takes Him along, to [a] mountain, very high. And he shows Him all the kingdoms of the world and the glory of theirs.

9 And he says to Him, "All these I will give to You, if You would, having fallen [down], do obeisance to me."

10 Then the Iesoús says to him, "Go [away],* Adversary!* For it is written, 'To [the] Lord the God of yours you will do obeisance, and Him only will you serve.'"

11 Then the Piercer releases Him, and behold! Angels came forward and they were serving Him.

12 Now*, having heard that Ioánnes was handed over, He withdrew to the Galilaía.

13 And leaving down the Nazarét, going, He settled down in Kapharnaoúm, the seaside [town] in Zaboulón's and Nephthalím's boundaries,

14 so that it be fulfilled, the word having been uttered via Esaías the prophet saying,

15 "Land [of] Zaboulón and land [of] Nephthalím, way of sea beyond the Iordánes, Galilaía of the [ungodly] nations:

16 The people who [are] sitting in darkness see great light*, even to them sitting in death's space and shadow, to them light arises*."

17 From then, the Iesoús began to preach and to say, "Repent! For the Kingdom of the Heavens has neared."

18 Now, walking beside the sea of the Galilaía, He saw two brothers, Símon (the [one] called Pétros) and Andréas (the brother of his), hurling a net into the sea. For they were fishermen.

19 And He says to them, "Here! Behind Me! And I will make you fishermen of human beings."

20 Now they, having straightly discharged the nets*, followed Him.

21 And having stepped forward from there, He saw two other brothers, Iákobos (the [son] of the Zebedaíos) and Ioánnes (the brother of his), in the boat with Zebedaíos the father of theirs, readying down* the nets of theirs, And He called them.

22 Now they, having straightly discharged the boat and the father of theirs, followed Him.

23 And He was going forth in the whole Galilaía, teaching in the synagogues of theirs, and proclaiming the good news of the Kingdom, and healing every sickness and every infirmity among the people.

24 And the hearing* of Him went out into the whole [of] Suría. And they brought forth to Him all them holding [up] badly by diverse sicknesses, and being constrained by torments, and suffering from demons*, and having moon-sickness* and people with palsy*, and He healed them.

25 And large crowds followed Him, from the Galilaía and Dekápolis and Hierosolúma and Ioudaía and beyond the Iordánes.
