v.2 Or have success. The Ancient Greek verb used here is εὐοδόω, which is a construction of the prefix eu- (with a main sense of good) and the substantive hodos, whose main sense is way or road. The standard translation of this verb as to prosper is misleading, because no increase of material wealth is necessarily implied.
