1 Now,* in the days of those, Ioánnes the Baptist is beside, preaching in the desert of the Ioudaía,
2 and* saying, "Repent! For the Kingdom of the Heavens has neared!"
3 This one, indeed, is the one having been uttered about via Esaías the prophet saying, "Sound bellowing in the desert: 'Ready the Lord's way! Make straight the paths of His!"
4 Now he, the Ioánnes, had the clothing of his from hairs of camel and a belt made of animal skin around the waist of his. Now, the nourishment of his was locusts and wild honey.
5 Then was going out to him Ierosóluma and all the Ioudaía and all the area around the Iordánes.
6 And they were being baptised in the Iordánes river* under him, in agreement accounting outwardly* the sins of theirs.
7 Now, having seen many of the Farisaíoi and Saddoukaíoi coming upon* the baptism of his*, he said to them, "Progenies of vipers! Who divulged to you to flee from the coming wrath?
8 Make then fruit worthy of the repentance!
9 And do not esteem to say among* yourselves, 'The Abraám we have as father!' For I say to you that the God is able to raise up children to the Abraám out of the stones, these stones.
10 Now, already the axe lays before the root of the trees. So every tree not producing good fruit is cut out and thrown into fire.
11 Though I myself baptise you in water into repentance, yet the one coming after me is stronger than me, the sandals of whose I am not fit to carry. He will baptise you in Holy Spirit and fire.
12 The winnowing shovel of His in the hand of His, He will also thoroughly purge the threshing floor of His. And He will gather together the grain of His into the storehouse.* Yet the chaff He will burn down with inextinguishable fire."
13 Then He is beside: the Iesoús from the Galilaiá, on the Iordánes, before the Ioánnes, of the purpose to be baptised under him.
14 Yet he Ioánnes* was thoroughly hindering Him, saying, "It is I who has need to be baptised under You! And You come to before me?"
15 Answering, though, the Iesoús said before* him, "Discharge now! For in this way is it seemly for us to fulfill all righteousness." Then he discharges it.*
16 Now, being baptised, the Iesoús straightly comes up from the water, and behold! The heavens were opened to Him*! And He saw the Spirit of the God* descending as if a dove, and* coming upon Him.
17 And behold! Sound from the heavens saying, "This is the Son of Mine, the beloved in* whom I approve."
