1 Then, having seen the crowds, He ascended on the mountain. And having sat down Himself, the disciples of His came to Him.
2 And having opened the mouth of His, He taught them, saying,
3 "Blessed [are] the poor, in* the Spirit, because theirs is the Kingdom of the Heavens.
4 Blessed [are] they lamenting, because they will be appealed to.
5 Blessed [are] the meek, for they will inherit the land.
6 Blessed [are] they hungering and thirsting for the righteousness, because they will be fed.
7 Blessed [are] the merciful, because they will receive mercy.
8 Blessed [are] the clean in the heart, because they will see the God.
9 Blessed [are] the makers of peace, because they will be called God's children.
10 Blessed [are] they who have been persecuted because of righteousness, because theirs is the Kingdom of the Heavens.
11 Blessed are you, when they reproach you and persecute and speak all evil against you falsely, because of Me.
12 Rejoice and exult, because the reward of yours is manifold in the Heavens. Indeed, in this way they persecuted the prophets who came before you.
13 You are the salt of the land. But if the salt become feeble, by what will it be salted? It has power for nothing any more, if not cast out to be trampled on under people.
14 You are the light of the world. [A] city cannot be concealed, sitting on top of [a] hill.
15 Nor do they burn a lamp and place it under the measuring bag, but on the lampstand, and it shines for all who [are] in the dwelling.
16 In this way, the light of yours must shine in front of people, in such way that they see the good works of yours and honour the Father of yours, who [is] in the Heavens.
17 Do not normalise* that I came to take down the norm* or the prophets: I came not to take down but to fill up.
18 Amen! Indeed, I say to you: not until the Heaven and the Land* would pass, may one letter or one comma* pass from the norm, [not] until all [things] have come to be.
19 So whoever would loosen one of the commandments, these, of the least, and teach this way to people, will be called least in the Kingdom of the Heavens. Yet whoever would do and teach, this one will be called great in the Kingdom of the Heavens.
20 Indeed, I say to you that if the righteousness of yours not abound more than the Scribes and Pharisees, no you may not enter into the Kingdom of the Heavens.
21 You have heard that it was said to the first* [ones], 'You will not murder. Yet whoever might murder is subject to the judgement.'
22 Yet I say to you that anyone who is raging against the sibling of his is subject to the judgement; then, whoever might say to the sibling of his, '[You] nuisance!' is subject to the council; yet, whoever would say, 'Moron!' is subject into the Hell of fire.
23 Therefore, if you would be bringing the offering of yours onto the altar and there would remember that the sibling of yours has something against you,
24 leave the offering of yours there before the altar and go away! Firstly be reconciled to the sibling of yours, and then, having gone, bring the offering of yours.
25 Be well-inclined to the accuser of you, quickly, throughout when you are with him on the way, not once the accuser hand you over to the judge, and the judge to the attendant, and you be thrown into prison!
26 Amen! I say to you, no you would not come out from there until you would pay the last penny.
27 You have heard that it was said, 'You will not commit adultery!'
28 Yet I say to you that anyone who is looking at [a] married woman in order to lust after her already committed adultery with her in the heart of his.
29 And if the eye of yours, the right one, ensnare you, take it out and cast [it] away from you!* For it profits you, so that one of the members of yours be lost and not the whole body of yours be thrown into Hell.
30 And if the right hand of yours ensnare you, chop it off and cast it away from you! For it profits you, so that one of the members of yours be lost and not the whole body of yours go away into Hell.
31 Now, it was uttered, 'Whoever would loose from the wife of his, he [must] grant her [a writ of] standing apart!'
32 Yet I say to you that anyone who is loosing from the wife of his except on account of fornication makes her commit adultery*, and whoever would marry [a] woman loosed from [her husband] commits adultery.
33 Again, you have heard that it was said to the first* [ones], 'You will not swear falsely, but you will render to the Lord the oaths of yours!'
34 Yet I say to you not to swear at all, neither by the Heaven,* because it is the God's throne,
35 nor by the Land, because it is the footstool of the feet of His, nor by Jerusalem, because it is the great king's city,
36 nor should you swear by the head of yours, because you are unable to make one hair white or black.
37 Yet the account* of yours [must] be, 'Yes—Yes. No—No.' Yet what exceeds these is of* evil*.
38 You have heard that it was said, 'Eye against eye and tooth against tooth',
39 yet I say to you not to fight* against the evil[-doer]. Instead, whoever strikes you on the right jaw-bone, to him turn also the other!
40 And to the [one] wanting you to be judged and to take the shirt of yours, give to him also the coat.
41 And whoever will compel you to serve for one mile, go two with him.
42 To the one asking of you, give! And the [one] wanting to borrow from you do not turn away!
43 You heard that it was said, 'Love the neighbour of yours and hate the enemy of yours.'
44 But I say to you: Love the enemies of yours and pray for them persecuting you—
45 [that is] the [way] how you will become sons of the Father of yours—Him in [the] Heavens—because the sun of His He raises over evil [people] and good [people], and it rains on just [people] and unjust [people].
46 Indeed, if you would love them loving you, what reward do you have? Do not even the [invaders'] tax-collectors do the same?
47 And if you would greet the siblings of yours only, what greater [thing] are you doing? Do not even the [ungodly] nations do the same?
48 You will therefore be absolute* as the Father of yours, the Heavenly One, is absolute.
