13 For the judgement is unmerciful on the one not doing* mercy. Mercy boasts against judgement.

14 What profit is there, my siblings, if someone says to have faith yet has not works? The faith cannot save him?

15 If a brother or sister is naked and lacking today's food,

16 yet any of you says to them, 'Go away in peace! Stay warm and feed!' and gives not the necessities of the body, the profit is what?

17 (In this way also the faith, if it have not works*, is dead, according to** itself.)

18 Instead, someone will say, "You have faith, and I have works. Show me the faith [of yours]* without the works [of yours]**, and I will show to you from the works of mine the faith [of mine]***.

19 You believe that the God is one. Do you well? Even the demons believe and shudder."

20 Yet do you want to know, O empty

24 You see that from works a human is justified, and not from faith alone.
