The Yrrwe Sanitarium has a long and tragic history. Originally constructed during the Second Age by dwarves, it was then called Gjorbul. It was a dungeon for all the most violent and dangerous sorcerers as well as political prisoners of Vorduhr. Here many were tortured and interrogated, others were convinced to betray their own nations and join the Dwarvic Conglomerate. Some rumors even suggest that it was here where the pact between Vorduhr and Voidlings was forged.
While records of the atrocities that occurred here are limited, it is no surprise that once Voidwatch took control of the island, they renamed it, to distance it from its bloody history. This time it was called the Yrrwe Hold, after the avatar of Ilar representing the Void. At this time its role was primarily to imprison invading creatures from The Void for study and experimentation. While public oversight of Voidwatch was far greater, the experimentation conducted there was considered far more acceptable due to the alien subjects, and its help in fighting back against the Voidlings and the Dwarvic Conglomerate.
Early in the Fourth Age of Blimnor, the facility was again refurbished, this time with beautiful halls, rooms, gardens, and common spaces. Staff included physicians, clerics, cooks, and wizards. The purpose of the facility was that of a ward for unstable magic users, touched by odd magic, or suffering from strange or incurable maladies. While the stigma of being sent to the Yrrwe Sanitarium was still shameful, the families of those admitted to it were reassured by the beautiful grounds and professional staff.
Unfortunately, once again this seemingly cursed place has become the site of another tragedy. Although details are scarce, Voidwatch claims that some strange madness swept through the facility, afflicting both patients and staff alike, resulting in an orgy of violence and sadism that has left few survivors, and none who can offer any insight as to the cause. Since then, the place has been abandoned, and its halls accepted as the most haunted place in Blimnor.
