The First Age of Blimnor follows the cataclysm that ended the Years of Absence. With the great civilizations collapsed, cultural groups are scattered and individualistic. The people of this age rarely formed groups larger than tribes, and with the scarcity of good land or mineral resources, most tribes died out in desperate struggles for survival. As a result there are few nations or dynasties lasted long enough to leave a historical record. However, some distinct exceptions are listed below.
Atop the great volcano Ryaxxagol sits the dragon king Yrkaddus. His reign of terror spreads far and wide across Ibania, Taesir, and Norgir, incinerating villages, and driving people mad with his mind-splitting chants. In fear, people gather food, treasure, and their families in sacrifice to the terrible creature. But soon Yrkaddus demands more, sending armies forth to terrorize and indoctrinate.
At some point, the cult seems to have disappeared from the land, presumably defeated. Curiously, while there is no evidence of the cult controlling a great empire, iconography of the group has been discovered near active or dormant volcanoes throughout Blimnor.
Little is known of the Raft People. They are suspected to be the descendents of survivors to the Golden People of what is today called The Wandering Isles. While no records come from The Raft People themselves, we do have descriptions by early sailors who encountered them. They describe fleets of small rafts tethered together to form ad hoc villages. Furthermore, they are believed to be expert fishermen, shipwrights, and sailors, though unlike the dwarven explorers of the time, there is no evidence of the Raft People having explored beyond the archipelago.
