Languages of the First Age

The rich and complex cultures of the Years of Absence inspired great philosophers, artists, and explorers. Those of its time are believed to be polyglots who were able to relate to many neighboring societies while still seeking novel experiences abroad. However, where that diversity was a great boon to the people of that golden age, it was a devestating hindrance when the cataclism that ended the age left the world scattered and violently survivalistic in an increasingly hostile land. However, these distinct cultural groups allow us to trace languages back to their ancient origins with some accuracy.

Languages

Eldaric Languages

• Ilarthu - The high elf language, used by high elf priests when speaking to Ilar and conducting great spells or rituals

• Eldaric - Used by high elves to speak with other peoples. Said to be partially telepathic. Branched in localised variants in various regions.

  • Nuldaric - Spoken by the snow elves

  • Syldaric - Spoken by the wood elves

  • Xhaldaric - Spoken by the sand elves

  • Erdwadic - Spoken by the sea elves

Vordanic Languages

• Vorduhm - The ancient language of stone, used by the dwarves to shape the earth.

• Daraduhm - The language of the ancestors and living leaders

• Barduhm - A variant of Vorduhm used on the surface, where its deep magic does not resonate

Yrrdaric Languages

• Imynnic - The oldest human language

• Ibannic - Spoken along the west coast of Ibania

• Shindic - Spoken along the southern coast of Ibania

• Syggic - Spoken along the eastern reaches of Ibania

• Fafdic - Spoken in northern regions of Ibania.

• Nuldaric - Spoken by the snow elves

• Syldaric - Spoken by the wood elves

Norgiric Languages

• Uthwunic - Spoken by the western bog tribes

• Danjaric - Spoken by the southern swamp tribes

• Gandaric - Spoken by the northern savannah tribes

• Zalugga Borm - Spoken by the central forest tribes

• Gouladic - Spoken by the northern mesa tribes

• Nor Xharadic - Spoken by the norther desert tribes

Taesic Languages

• Saiic - Spoken in the city of Sai and along its river colonies

• Lur Xharadic - Spoken by the eastern desert tribes

• Sam Xharadic - Spoken by the western mesa tribes

• Pad Xharadic - Soken by the souther flats tribes

• Nor Xharadic - Spoken by the southern

• Xhaldaric - Spoken by the sand elves

Primal Languages

• Infernal - Spoken by the fire, great dragons, and beings of lava

• Sylvan - Spoken by the trees, beings of nature

• Sylphic - Spoken by the wind and beings of the sky and heavens

• Undinic - Spoken by the waves and being of water

Udellic Languages

• Glimmic - Spoken by the central mountain people

• Dekkic - Spoken by the southern jungle people

• Sparkkic - Spoken by the northern coastal people

• Peddic - Spoken by the southern island people

Islandic Languages

• Erdwadic - Spoken by the sea elves

• Oba Lopic - Spoken by the raft people

Whyltonic Languages

• Jotnic - Spoken by the giants

• Kveric - Spoken by the Kverin dwarves

• Poltawic - Spoken by the Poltawek dwarves
