In the beginning, there was not but Ilar, or so the Elvish tales go. And from her thought sprang forth from the void all of creation. She called this new land Eiar. Mountain and vale and river she made, all from her own body, until the world was rich with plant, beast, and land on which to prosper. However, none yet lived who could shape this world in the image of Ilar. Her first children were the Eldarien. Wisdom was their gift, and immortality its teacher. They were born to Ilar first in Ewenach and given the vast forests of Silwe trees to tend. Second-born were the Vordain, and their gift was Insight, and the First realm of the Vordain in the Drowned Mountains was known as Rurain, the Mountain of Plenty. Third-born were the men of of the world, known in Elvish as the Yrrdar. They awakened in the East, in the Deeps of Haeldwynn (known to the Eldar as Curunin) Their gift was Inspiration, and quickly they spread through the land in mirth and prosperity. At the end of this creation, Ilar implored the races of Eiar to tend to their own lands and peoples. Then she retired to the void to rest from her great labor. It is said that all of creation took Ilar one year to complete, but her absence would be far longer and more terrible.
