The Department for Recovery from Unforeseen Disaster, or DRUD, was formed in the aftermath of the war for the Dwarvic Conglomerate. Much like Voidwatch, it is an international organization whose purpose is to respond to threats to Blimnor. However, where Voidwatch focused on threat from extra-planar environments such as The Void, Hellish Planes, or Faeland, the DRUD instead focused on providing relief solutions toward endemic natural or industrial disasters.
Their first members where elves hoping to treat the ecological destruction of the continent of Ea. However, as it became evident that the effort would require more resources than any single nation could muster, the organization opened up, and in turn began studying many of the issues faced across Blimnor.
The DRUD's projects include:
Ea The systematic deforestation of the island caused the extinction of the Silwe tree, whose extraordinary properties were both critical to the ecosystem and to the spirituality of the elves who lived there. The DRUD seeks to find some other tree that might be able to fill the role of the Silwe tree so that some amount of Ea's ecosystem could be restored.
Ferrymellow The climate of the island was destroyed by an unnatural blight during a period where it was occupied by the Dwarvic Conglomerate. The halflings that survived the occupation hope to restore the natural ecosystem so that it can be resettled.
Vorduhr The detonation of a voidbomb in the capitol city of Dain left most of the continent warped and uninhabitable by chaotic and destructive void magic. The area is covered in an exclusion zone to keep civilians safe. The DRUD is one of the few organizations allowed there.
The Danja Swamps The rapid industrialization of Norgir has led to environmentally destructive methods for extracting the valuable danjabrium fuel. While the nation of Norgir has been aggressive in fending off unauthorized members of the DRUD, there are a number of teams operating in secret to study the effects of the danjabrium industry on the region.
Ibanrail The Ibanian Kingdom has begun a massive project to connect major and even many minor cities to a national railway system. Since the installation of rails often requires massive excavation, construction, and deforestation, the DRUD has insisted that it be consulted during the project.
The Ocean Void This ocean is marked by strange and anomalous creatures, water-patterns, and radio signatures. It is suspected to be a region where the Dwarvic Conglomerate experimented with void magic. The DRUD cautiously studies it in the hopes that it does not affect the surrounding natural environment.
The Polar Continent The continents of Whilcyx and Alcyx were not discovered by explorers until the Modern Age. As a result, many new or divergent species have been discovered in a unique climate. The DRUD hopes to study these regions before colonization begins.
