In the late third age, Wendon Lea was known as perhaps the most idyllic town in Ferrymellow. Built into a bluff overlooking Lake Kindemere, the small town of 400-500 boasted thriving agriculture, a tight-knit communal culture, and a small mining operation 10 miles west of town that allowed for the construction of the iconic, two-story Wendon-home house style, consisting of a lower level of mortared flagstone and a log-and-crossbeam upper level with thatched roofs and a central, cobblestone chimney. Its mayor, Roke Rollins, was something of a folk legend, known for his big ideas and ability to motivate change in a somewhat stolid Halfling people. The Dwarvic Conglomerate knew Wendon Lea was a symbol of Halfling culture, despite its modest size, and targeted the town early. The citizens of Wendon Lea held out against the Conglomerate longer than expected, two weeks while wildly outmatched, but the town was eventually sacked and Rollins killed. Today, The first stories of Wendon buildings still mostly remain, with charred cinders sitting atop them.
