At the delta of the Eels River, the town of Eelsmaw is known for its lumber industry and guild of woodworkers. It maintains constant exports into the Glimmersea and up the river to Silvergate. Visitors often remark on the unusual local obsession with wood including furniture, carving, whittling, pencil manufacturers, shipwrights, toys, and so on. There is even a semi-annual festival called the Eelsmaw Jamboree celebrating local wood craftsmen, serving smoked fish, and giving out party favors like packs of toothpicks, matches, or pencils.
