Likely the oldest of Ibanian settlements, Baeyrd with named for the legendary hero Viktyr Baeyrd whose 2nd Age epic poem enshrined him in Ibanian religion. The city overlooks Ascension Bay and is beloved for its historic architecture and culture.
Among the most important landmarks is Droin Hall, a massive opera house with floors of stadium seating and central open stage. Unlike other opera houses with box seating and proscenium stage, shows at Droin Hall follow an older doctrine of theater wherein members of the audience are expected to intermingle regardless of class, and share in the genuine and varied reaction to the performance. The central stage in-the-round encourages audience to consider that any great story has many perspectives. Additionally, the stage may be cleared for balls and other social events.
