Haddleton was remarkable in the Third Age as a city built mostly on floating piers and barges that stretch far from the coast of the island. In spite of its ramshackle appearance, it is considered one of the wealthiest cities in the world. Throughout the Third Age, is renowned for having never successfully been attacked even though it had no permanent fortifications or standing fleet of warships. This is owing to its mercantile tactic of purchasing the loyalty of any potential marauders well before any attempted raid is planned. The unprecedented wealth of the Wandering Isles Trade Syndicate has greatly improved Haddleton for the Fourth Age, extending great stone supports into the bay to house endless piers and shipyards. Modern infrastructure such as seawalls and drainage canals have been built to sustain the city during the frequent tsunamis and hurricanes. However, in spite of the corporate pride, the people of Haddleton still preserve their cheerfully haphazard culture with floating markets, catastrophic yacht races, and colorful gang rivalries.
