At one point in time- whatever you have been doing to others will be done to you-
Even if you don't reap the reward of your good or bad deed, people close to you, namely your family or children may enjoy the effects of your deeds. Doors have been opened to people because of the good deeds of their ancestors. Doors have also been shut to some people because of the bad deeds of their ancestors. Let us learn to think trans-generationally. It is not just about you.
THE LAW OF SOWING AND REAPING
Galatians 6:7, “ Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap .”
This is probably the most recognized and known law by the body of Christ- it says you shall reap whatsoever you have been sowing- In scripture several things are described as seed- these include the word of God, money, plant, resources, time & skills etc. - whether we realize it or not- we are sowing all the time and the bible says that it's just a matter of time, and we will surely reap whatever we have been sowing.
At one point in time- what you have been doing to others will be done to you- at one time you will be treated exactly the way you have been treating others.
If you have been helping others at one time you will receive help- if you have been ministering to others at one point you will also be ministered to.
If you have been mistreating others- at a point you will also encounter mistreatment-If you have been cheating people, at a point you will be robbed of everything.
If you have been blessing others with your time, resources and spiritual support- at one point you shall be blessed-
This was what Jesus was referring to when he said “ Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full—pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back .”- (Luke 6:38) Notice Jesus says you will not reap the same measure you sow- but it will be multiplied-
Jesus also said, while still talking about this law that you should do to others what you want done to you. This is one of the reasons why you should try your best to be nice- if you don’t want to be abused, don’t go abusing others- if you don’t want to be embarrassed don’t go embarrassing other people- if you don’t want to be humiliated- don’t go humiliating other people. Bible says whatever you sow- you will reap.
Scripture also says in Proverbs 18:24- …. some people wonder why they have no friends- you cannot have friends if you are not a friendly person - whatever you sow, you will reap- but in a multiplied form.
Look at the life of Mordecai in the book of Esther- one day while sitting at the gate, he overheard two men plotting to kill the king and he went and warned him. He could have chosen to mind his own business and to keep quiet about the matter. After saving the King, nothing was immediately done to repay him for this good deed by the king- but later when his life and that of the Jews hung in the balance- God cause the King to read the book of remembrance and he was honoured at this critical time- he was reaping what he had sown earlier.
Same way, you may do good now, and will not get the reward instantly but later on when you have even forgotten the good you did, payment will come. Same way you can do some bad and think you have gotten away with it, trust me when I tell you; fate, the universe, karma are very very patient, it is just a matter of time, your evil deeds will find you out.
Notice the size of your harvest will depend on the measure to which you apply this law. I believe that one of the reasons why there is a lot of lack and need in the body of Christ is that we have been slack to apply this law- people have applied this law in areas but in small measures- so they get back in small measures.
Some people give in small measures- they have difficulty giving to humans and to God- this law, however always works, whether you believe it or not- whatsoever a man sows that he shall also reap. You think the very rich people who are always supporting charity and the underprivileged in the society don't know what to do with their money. They are understand and are operating a law and it is working for them.
The bible exhorts us in the book of Galatians 6:9-10- “ Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers .”
We can change our destiny by using this law with understanding. Let's us be good and do good.
Shalom and God bless you
