PRAYER INTENTIONS

1. Pray for the activation of the gifts(s) of the HOLY SPIRIT that you have received. Please be specific with the gifts you want activated and used. (Wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety, and fear of the Lord. (Gift of Faith, Gift of healings, gift of Miracles, gift of Prophecy, gift of Discerning of spirits, gift of tongues)

1 Corinthians 12:1-11 & Isaiah 11:1-3

GIFTS FROM THE HOLY SPIRIT.

Spirit of God help our weakness, let us be communicators of the Spirit of life.

When Jesus walked the face of the earth, He manifested certain dimensions of the Holy Spirit that caused the people in his day to marvel. The gospel are filled with shocks and exclamation about the gifting’s and dimensions in which Jesus operated.

Jesus mentored closely 12 people and on a larger scale 72 people and more…. He taught them several things. Mark, Mathew and Luke didn’t emphasize the ministry of the Holy Spirit. It was John in John 14, 15, 16 who gave an exegesis on the personality of the Holy spirit, Jesus introduced the Holy Spirit proper to them, then at a certain point, He empowered and sent them out 2 by 2 and they came back with excitement and wonders, yet they could not understand the dynamics of what they were doing. They said Master the demons were subject to us at your name, the sick were healed, and Jesus told them, “ oh that one is small, rejoice rather that I saw Satan falling from heaven with the speed of lightening. I have given you authority, so that you can walk on snakes and scorpions and overcome all the power of the enemy, and nothing will hurt you. ”- Luke 10:17-19.

Even the disciples themselves did not have a thorough understanding of the gifts of the Holy Spirit, while Christ was still with them as a man.

It must be noted that the gifts of the Holy Spirit has always been there from the beginning, it didn’t start in the New Testament, only that no one had been able to construct a theology around it till Paul appeared, and made a doctrine out of it. Paul was granted access to this mystery- in the church of Corinth, the Holy Spirit found a lavish dimension of access to that territory, people were exhibiting the various gifts to the point of disorderliness, so when Paul came he knew he had to build up a theological basis for the understanding of the mystery of the Holy spirit and the gifts of the Holy Spirit.

Let us do some BIBLE STUDIES. BIBLE STUDIES - looking at what Paul the apostle & Isaiah the prophet say-

So let's turn to look at 1 Corinthians 12:1-11.

12:1, “ now concerning spiritual gifts, I don’t want you to be ignorant of the dynamics of the Holy Spirit, so I want to teach you the truth about these matters. ” Don’t forget Paul was speaking to people who had accepted Christ, already. The first point he makes is that

1. There are DIVERSITY OF GIFTS. Different kinds of gifts but the spirit gives them all.

The implication is that as you go about your Christian duties you will see people move in unusual dimensions, dimensions that you are not used to, and dimensions that can stretch your faith, and cause controversy in their operation. As you walk your faith, you will encounter men and women that will walk in strange ways, ways that will stretch your intellect, education, experience, and you will see things you ain’t familiar with, when you begin to see this things- just remember there are diverse gifts.

Notice there is a reason why Paul doesn’t give a specific number, he just says there are diverse gifts. Gifts are diverse as the alignment of the saints, so you might see certain gifting’s you are used too, other times you may experience certain strange ones you haven’t seen before, and you may be tempted to say it is not from God, before you do, pull your breaks and remember there are diverse gifts. The fact that God is moving in a way you are not used to doesn’t negate the fact that God is at work. So at the end Paul will say a more excellent way to express all of these gifting’s is by LOVE, because if there is no LOVE, there will be pride, unhealthy competition, criticism, cynicism and hatred. “

Hear me when I tell you, in these end times you are going to see diversity of gifts of the Holy Spirit in different proportions. Different kinds of spiritual gifts, but God gives them all. You will see dimensions that will bring harsh criticism but will birth the glory of God in an unusual way.

"There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them."- 1 Corinthians 12:4

"For to one is given through the Spirit the utterance of wisdom, and to another the utterance of knowledge according to the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit, to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another the ability to distinguish between spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues But it is one and the same Spirit who does all this; as he wishes he gives a different gift to each person." 1 Corinthians 12:8-11

The Gift List from Paul is-

1. Wisdom

2. Knowledge

3. Faith

4. Healing

5. Miracles

6. Prophecy

7. Discernment of Spirits

8. Gift of Tongues

9. Interpretation of Tongues

Vrs 6 will say Diversity of activities but the same God who works all. Vrs 7 - will say the manifestation of gifts is given to each one for the benefit of the body of Christ not for a particular person or denomination, for the benefit of the whole body of Christ namely Presbyterians, Pentecostals, apostolic, Catholics, charismatics, for the benefit of the whole body of Christ .

He says in Verse 11, It is the same Spirit who does all this; as he wishes he gives a different gift to each person.

Remember the Holy Spirit gives all of these gifts.

Now - we can conveniently put this 9 mentioned gifts into 3 CATEGORIES

1. REVELATORY GIFTS(wisdom, knowledge and discerning of Spirits) they help you to THINK like Christ.

2. VOCAL GIFTS (Prophesy, diverse kinds of tongues & interpretation of tongues) these help you to *SPEAK' like Christ.

3. POWER GIFTS (Faith, Healing gifts and working miracles) these help you to ACT like Christ.

Now Isaiah- also says in Isaiah 11:1-3, A shoot will come from the stump of Jesse, from his roots a branch will bear fruit. The spirit of the Lord will rest upon him-

5. Fear of the Lord

Gift list of Paul + Isaiah =

1. Wisdom

2. Knowledge

3. Faith

4. Healing

5. Miracles

6. Prophecy

7. Discernment of Spirits

8. Gift of Tongues

9. Interpretation of Tongues

10. Understanding

11. Counsel

12. Fear of the Lord

So I have decided to merge Isaiah and Paul and I got 12 gifts, and that's what am sharing with you. Mind you, mm not against what your church says, if you says, you have 100, 1000, 9, 7, 12 gifts-, your are not wrong because Paul says there are diverse gifts and he decided to list 9, so per the revelation or your walk with the Spirit, you more discover more gifts that are not even listed in the Bible.

I will consider the gift of WISDOM and its dimensions in the next teaching.

DISTRIBUTION OF FRUITS AND GIFTS OF THE 🔥HOLY SPIRIT🔥

How do you know you have received a gift or fruit of the Holy Spirit ?. The first way of knowing is that, you will see the gift or fruit at work in your life. So if for instance you asked for gentleness , you will realize that you have become very gentle than you used to be.

So here is the deal, we are coming to perform a spiritual exercise, for us to know what we have received in addition to what we asked. Here are the instructions.

1. Say a prayer to the Holy Spirit.

2. CHOOSE any FIVE NUMBERS from the FRUIT List.

The FRUIT LIST is numbered from

1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 , 8, 9.

SO PICK FIVE RANDOM NUMBERS FROM THE FRUIT LIST, and keep the numbers somewhere safe, write them down somewhere.

Please once you pick a number don't change your mind again. Example Kojo can pick the numbers 9, 5,3,7,4. Make sure you pick just five numbers.

3. After that CHOOSE any SEVEN NUMBERS from the GIFT LIST

So the gift list is numbered 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13.

Write down the numbers you have chosen somewhere don't forget the numbers, and once you pick the numbers don't change your mind.

So for example for the gifts , Ama can pick, 10, 5, 4, 2, 12, 7, 3,

4. Tomorrow- evening I will send you a list of the fruits and gifts to match the numbers you have picked.
