Tonal Square
4.25in, 4.25in
I think it shows in my work that, yes I had to follow a picture but I still put work into it and it was still fun. I’m sure mine doesn’t look exactly like the picture but hopefully, it works when we put the puzzle together. I don't exactly know how this piece of art relates to my life because I had to copy down an image and I didn't get that much freedom with my ideas or my creativity. But I tried to add in little parts of my own techniques, like how to shade and blend.
The materials I used were the worksheet provided in class, a triskelion, my finger, 6H pencils, HB pencil, 2B pencil, and 6B pencil to create my shading. I also used a block eraser and ruler to measure and make lines.
I made my square into sections before I did anything to make it easier when I was copying the shapes of my photo. After that, I started shading my light areas first without dark recognizable lines. Then I shaded my dark areas and blended the transition areas with my finger and my triskelion. As I kept shading my project just looked like large blobs on a piece of paper. When I put my square with all of the other squares it started to form a bird. I think my next step could have been to have a larger range of dark shading and light shading and light shading so there were fewer transition marks that you could see.
