The Fish Bowl

Some ideas that are visually evident in my work is that I definitely wanted to make the goldfish the center piece and I wanted all attention on that part of my work. I also wanted it to be very blended with watercolors and then have everything outlined in a thin black gel pen to make the distinct lines stand out. This project related to my life because whenever I think of a fish bowl I imagines a big goldfish and colorful plants with different colored pebbles all laying at the bottom.

My work was made on multimedia paper and I used a light pencil to sketch out my drawing before going in with watercolor. Once my watercolor dried I went over all the lines with a thin black gel pen and then used an eraser to try to get rid of the pencil marks that were still showing. I also used a ruler to make my border.

During the process of making my art, I experimented with using my fingers to blend some of the watercolors for the pebbles on the bottom of the fishbowl. I also did a lot of overlapping colors and trying to blend them together. My project evolved as I added more color and then outlined all the lines which made them really stand out against the watercolor. I think my next steps could have been to do a better job incorporating my prompt.
