Artist Statement

Calm

The main idea I had for this sustained investigation is that I really wanted to show the emotion in my use of line work and I think I ended up doing a pretty good job at that and expressing the emotion of being calm. I also think I showed this well with my color choices and how I used the light, peaceful scene from a magazine as my background. The materials I used in this piece were magazine scraps, paint markers, glue, and pen. My process for this project was longer than I thought it would be because I kept debating whether or not I should add more to the background or take away my border and just stuff like that. This process also took longer because I was really trying to add more detail and connect it to my last works.
