Artist Statement

Ideas that are visually evident in my work is that for each piece I tried to stick to the 20-minute mark and I only used a pencil because I knew I was going to want to do a lot of blending and I also wanted all three of the time capsule pieces to be made with the same material. My project relates to my life because we pretty much did the same project last year and I can see how much I improved from my quick self-portrait last year to now. This project also relates to me because each of the pieces has something to do with me or my everyday life. The materials I used for this project were pencils and erasers.

The process I used to make these pieces was I really tried to not focus on little mistakes because I knew that would slow me down and I only had 20 minutes to work on each part of the time capsule. My project evolved as I started blending the pencil and making little details and shadowing parts of the work. I think my next step could have been to not rush on the object you use everyday because I don't really like how that one came out.
