Gelli prints

The story and ideas for my writing are like the stages of fall and its leaves, the gelli prints of my leaves show every dent crease and rip in my leave which almost gives the ink print a texture. I didn't really choose to do this project it was an assignment but I did get to pick the leaf I used in my gelli print. I picked this leaf because I thought it was a good size and it had a lot of creases and dents and some rips which I thought would look really cool in the ink.

The materials I used for my gelatin printing was a piece of class that I put over a plan piece of paper that I could use to line my printing up. After that I got my gelatin block out and put it on top of my piece of glass. I then used my brayer to cover my gelatin with dark blue ink, then I put my leaf down on the gelatin and put my paper on top of my gelatin block and leaf. After all that was done I continued with black sharpie and red acrylic paint.

During my printing process I experimented with the amount of dark blue ink I put on my brayer that I then layered on my gelatin slab. I learned that the more ink I put down the darker my ghost print would end up. My project slowly evolved as I outlined my leaf and the shape of my gelatin block and started adding ribbons and bows that I filled in later with red acrylic paint. My next step would have been to add more leaves on my border and around the present box.
