Artist Statement

Frown

The main idea for this work was to portray sadness though line work and color, this is why I chose to do the face expressions sad and frowny and make the whole color scheme blue. I also put a raincloud in the background to make it feel more gloomy and sad. Going back to the color scheme I chose all washed out/ grey blues to give the face a more drained look. The materials I used to create this work was acrylic paint, paint markers, alcohol markers, pencils, and pens. I used acrylic paint for the background because I wanted it to be more thick and not see through and also so it would make the face look more washed out. The process I used for this project had more steps because I did my background and then I did the face on a separate piece of paper and then cut it out and taped it to my background
