Hiding
Ideas that are evident in my work is I wanted it to give off the idea that the world was caving in on the girl in my art. I wanted it to help represent anxiety and depression which is why I used darker colors and put all the floating words and questions in my work. My project relates to my life because mental health is very important to me.
My work was made with mostly oil pastels and sharpies but I also used colored pencils and watercolors for my background. I used painter's tape to keep the watercolor from bleeding onto my border. I also tried to make it so the oil pastels wouldn't smudge or get rubbed onto my border.
The process I used to make this work was I started by sketching my idea in pencil and then did my background with watercolor before I used my other materials. My project evolved as I added more colors and words that stretched out into my border. My next step could have been to make my border smaller because I didn't end up liking how big it looked when I was finished.
