EARLY LIFE
Richard Tilden was the eldest son on Matthew and Elizabeth Tilden, christened in Gilliingham 16 May, 1675.
He married Mary Gaskin on 17 Dec 1696.

They resided in Stockbury. Richard Tilden had a farm in Yelsted, Stockbury, which had the third largest assessment on the page in the 1704 assessment. ( £8, when the average seems to be £1 to £2.)
Richard Tilden is described as a yeoman on his tombstone, in Stockbury:
"Here Lieth body of RICHARD TILDEN, late of the parish of Bobben. He died 30 Aug 1744, aged 68 years. Also here let the body of Mary, his wife. She departed life 22 May 1748, aged 71 years. Likewise here lieth body of Francis, their younger daughter. Left surviving issue of one son and three daughters: Elizabeth, Mary, Rebecca and William."
