LEGEND
According to some traditional genealogies, Henry de Tylden was allegedly the son of Sir Richard de Tilden of Sittenbourne and husband of Phillipa, daughter of Sir Richard Boteler of Lancashire. While this is possible, I have yet to see any independent confirmation of either of these relationships.
Known History
He was born about 1235..
According to John Tilden, OUR ENGLISH ANCESTORS, p 9: Henry de Tildenn "is the first of the name found among the earliest English records, when he appears as a witness in a legal controversy between EDWARD I, of England, and the Pryor of the Hospital of St. John, of Sutton de l a Hone, County Kent, England, in 1293, reported i n Placita de Quo Warranto, pages 352-333; and also a witness in a controversy between said King EDWARD I and Adam Martel, of the Manor of East Sutton, County Kent, reported at pages 358-359, Placit a de Quo Warranto. At that time he is mentioned as 'of^East Sutton or Holyngbourne, County Kent."
