CHILDHOOD
James Doe was christened at St James the Baptist in Bredgar, on August 30, 1566. His parents, Nicholas and Elizabeth Doe, had only recently moved to that parish. James was three when the family spent a year in Easling and then spent the next 17 years in Hollingbourne.
MARRIAGE
He married Agnes Wilkyns in Throwley, 17 July 1592. That was her family's parish.
The Does initially settled in Lenham, then moved to Bicknor. His father Nicholas' will, proved in 1601/2, mentioned his son "Jacob (James) Doo of Storkbury?" By the time of his father-in-law John Wilkins' death, in 1604, it was James Doe of Borden.
James was still alive in 1626, when his brother Robert left him ten shillings.
