John Porret (chrs April 6 1785, Amport, Hampshire, England) m Sarah (c 1786 in Shipton, Hampshire).
In the 1990s Ron Perrett, of the Perrett Society, suggested John was one of the many Amport relatives of Henry Perrett, though the precise relationship is not known.
Roy A Hales, from Canada, remembers hearing that John's granddaughter (Lena Emily Perrett) was French.
Robert Stephen Hales, from Henley on the Thames, says that her family came from the Channel Islands. I have since heard though the population of the channel islands was primarily Norman, they were regarded as French by the rest of England.
John Porret was buried in Amport on 14 Jun 1830.
His widow, Sarah appears in Amport's 1851 census as a year old widow in the Amport Street Almhouses, occ pauper/shopkeeper.
