EARLY YEARS
Edward was one of John and Johan Clench's children and probably born around 1551. We are not certain if this was in Eastling, or his parents were already in Otterden.
MARRIAGE
He travelled to London and married Rose Williamson on the 7th of May 1571 at Christ Church, Greyfriars, Newgate, London.
OTTERDEN
They raised a family in Otterden, where Edward was active in the parish, He was the churchwarden in 1581.
After his father's will was probated, in 1582, Edward inherited the tenement called Frith and all the lands ... lying in the parish of Eastlynge [Eastling], properties in Otterden, Moynton and the parish of Minster. HIs mother Johan received properties in Moynton?, Otterden, Stalisfyld, which passed to Edward after her death.
Edward also appears to be the "cozen" Edward mentioned in Anthony Clynch's will.
He signed the parish transcript in 1593/94
Edward died sometime prior to 1596, for on "27 May 1596, John Style of Ulcombe wydower and Rose Clynch of Otterynden wydow were maryd" in Otterden. Edward, Rose, and their three oldest daughters are named in Edward's father's will of 1582. Edward's daughter Margaret and son might be the same as the "goddaughter Margaret Clinch" and "my cosen Edward Clinch" mentioned in Edward's brother Anthony's 1609/10 will.
