According to the initial DNA tests by Living DNA, the closest DNA matches to the Hales family come from Scandinavia: 38% matches in Sweden, 32% each in Norway & Denmark. As I actually have more French matches (17%) than English (15%), this suggests the ancestors of the Hales family may have followed the legendary Rollo to Normandy.
After comparing my DNA with that of 446 Viking samples, Living DNA stated that my DNA most closely matches the Vikings from Norway. (53% in the Viking index.)
