HER FAMILY
The most reliable record we have of Mary Foster's birth comes from her tombstone, beside Boxley's parish Church:
John Hales of this parish died July 29th 1756, aged 62 years
Also Mary his wife, died July 1st 1737 aged 38 years
This would seem to indicate that John's first wife, Mary Foster, was born between 1699 and 1700.
Consequently, some believe she was the daughter of William & Mary Foster, christened in Lynsted on Dec 22, 1700. Only Lynsted's parish records show that Mary Foster, "Daughter of William" was buried on Oct 28, 1707.
Though I have not found any records of her birth, a MyHeritage family tree states Mary, do William Foster and Neeltje Volkerts was christened in Frinstead Jan 12 1699.
MARRIAGE TO JOHN HALES
John Hales married Mary Foster in Frinsted - which roughly the same distance from Biddenden as John's hometown of Yalding - on April 7 1724.
They took up residence in Boxley, which overlooks the city of Maidstone, where Mary gave birth to eight children.
