William Roper (abt 1530?- bur 21 April 1588 Bearsted) married Eliza. This family was probably from Bearted as their grandson William Spice's burial entry, in the Spcie family's ancestral parish of Thurnham, say: "Wm. Spice a bachelor of about 48 years of age dyed at Bersted [Bearsted] and was buried there besides his ancestors."

(1) Issabell Glon at Bethersden 15 Jul 1583; (2) Elizabeth (bur 7 Oct 1687 at Bearsted); (3) the widow Ann Masterson married George Roper, yeoman of Breasted" by bans on Sept. 12, 1615. George was named overseer in his brother-in-law John Spice's will. His children were from the marriage to Elizabeth:

- Brygyt Roper(c 8 MAR 1600) married a Thomas Hunt on 22 NOV 1624 at Bearsted
