CHILDHOOD
Mary was the first of William Harndon and Sarah Hinds' children. She was christened at St John the Baptist, Bredgar, on 4 Feb, 1732. Being the oldest, she would also have helped raise her seven siblings.
MARRIAGE
Mary was 23, when she married William Goodhew (III) from Tunstal in 1755. He was the first of that family known to reside in Bredgar, though they had been in the surrounding parishes for generations.
They started renting parcels of land in South Dean and Bredgar in 1764. In 1785 Mary's uncle Stephen Hinds Jr rented then his house in the village of Bredgar.
Mary died in 1794, having brought a dozen children into the world. One of those who survived her was our ancestor William Goodhew IV.
