BREDGAR
There is only one Crowhurst entry in Bredgar's parish register. The marriage of Ann Crowerst (Crowhurst) to John Quaife in 1750. She is most likely the daughter of a Daniel Crowhers (Crowhurst) appears in the parish's accounts, with lands assessed at £14, between 1747 and 1751.
This was obviously not a local family, but where did they come from?
HADLOW
Searching the IGI, I found an Ann d/o Daniel Crowherst (Crowhurst) christened twenty miles to the west in Hadlow on Sept 3, 1727. She would have been 23 at the time of the marriage in Bredgar.
Further searches revealed that Daniel Crowhurst married Mary Thatcher at St Peter and St Paul, Yalding, on 22 May 1718. Daniel's name started appearing in the Hadlow register immediately after that. They were in Hadlow between 1719 and 1730. The only subsequent records I have of this family come from Bredgar.
