William was most likely born about 1665 and the son of John Foster, a housekeeper in Lynstead parish, and his wife Anne. If so, William would have been brought up in one of the parish's manors, most likely in Tenham or Forgenhall. John and Anne Foster both died on Dec 29, 1671 at which point William would have been about six years old.
There is no record of his marriage to Mary, which presumably took place about 1685. She was buried d. 21 Jan 1701, Lynstead, Kent.
William married a second, to Amy, after that. She was buried in Lynstead Oct 1 1715.
William Foster died on April 14, 1726.
