FAMILY CONNECTIONS
William was the eldest son of James Knight and Anne Coullen and christened in Bicknor's parish church on June 30 1606.
He married his cousin Anne Knight in Hollingbourne 17 Feb 1642.
MOVES THROUGHOUT KENT
They christened their first child in Bicknor, then moved to Bredgar for more than a decade.
After Anne's father died, in 1659, her brother Richard Knight inherited Ripple Court Manor in Hollingbourne. His name does not appear in the assessment of 1664. Instead a William Knight was occupying a house with 6 chimneys in 1664. (Duncan Harrington, KENT HEART TAX ASSESSMENT LADY DAY 1664, p 323)
As Richard is not known to have had any children - and his sister Ann died on 25 July, 1663 - the Hollingbourne estate may have subsequently passed on to our William Knight. He may have been occupying the manor from then until his death in 1677.
