Races
More player races than listed may exist. Please not that many have changed significantly from the genre norms. I have focused on detailing the biggest or most important changes.
Humans are the predominant race. But even they have sub cultures and different stats from the book. Most are due to blessings and changes incurred in previous campaigns. The human race breaks int two major factions stat wise Thule and non-Thule. Thule is a Asian influenced invader nation that has control of a significant portion of the region's land.
Many of the human cultures are based at least partially on historical cultures and people. For example the Helenese empire is similar to Ancient Greece if it had been conquered by the Roman military then conquered again by the far east.
Dwarves have divided into three separate factions. The biggest and most prosperous faction are no longer short tunnel dwelling curmudgeons. They are taller swaggering seamen who have mostly abandoned their ties to the earth. Some dwarves remain on land but these have hair triggers and those that still live in the ancestral homelands have become dark twisted things.
Elves are also no longer the fey wood dwellers of legend, These days they are more often seen as human nobility or aristocracy. The long lives and diplomatic blessing make them better and political maneuvering and nation building than their human kin.
Monster races have recently gained acceptance though much prejudice still exists. When the dwarven mining industry collapsed due to the seaward migration monsters stepped in to take over the job of harvesting ore. They have a slightly higher than usual tolerance to the madness inducing effect of and the new higher standard of living from their risen status more than makes up for the early mortality risk due to madness and chaos in the earth. Monsters are also not adverse to using slave labor to make harvesting even safer.
Other races do exist but have mostly been pushed to the edges of society.
